Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, on the occasion of the climax of the golden jubilee celebration of St John the Baptist Parish, Odorkor on Sunday October 20, 2019 administered the sacrament of confirmation to 106 confirmants.

Mary Mother of Good counsel Parish, Airport West, presented a total number of 49 confirmants , St John the Baptist Parish presented 39 confirmants while St Dominic catholic church, Mallam also presented 18 confirmants to receive the sacrament of confirmation.

Archbishop Kwofie explained that, the process is aimed at bringing their baptism to completion. “It is also to make them soldiers of Christ, to make them soldiers of the church, to make people convinced of their faith who will go out and proclaim their faith not only by word of mouth but also by their very lives”, he added.

Some confirmants affirmed that,” being initiated as full-fledged members of the faith gives them the spiritual opening to categorically denounce satan and all of his wiles.”
The confirmation ceremony was part of activities earmarked to climax the golden jubilee celebration of st john the baptist parish, Odorkor.

The sacrament of confirmation completes the sacrament of baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confir- mation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age.

It is administered by laying-on of hands and anointing with chrism accompanied by prayer. The chrism is blessed by the bishop and the bishop administers the sacrament. All baptized persons can and should be confirmed.

The effect of the sacrament of confirmation is to give strength in faith and for the confession of faith and to impress an indelible character.
