His Excellency, President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akuffo-Addo paid a visit to the Christ the King Catholic Church last Sunday, January 24, 2021.

While addressing the church, he made a pleasant reference to having known Father Campbell when he, the President, while a Chairman of The Board of DHL Ghana, made a pet project to support the leprosarium. He further expressed his appreciation in the service of the Irish father these past years.

The President went ahead to re-assure the church that he and his officials were going to work efficiently to protect the citizenry with regards to the pandemic. “I am aware that there is a great deal of anxiety amongst all of us over the rise in the cases in the Covid that I want to ensure you that government is going to be taking in all the necessary steps that we can take to make sure that you and the population of the country are as protected as matters God would allow us to be protected in this situation.”

The President of the fourth Republic went ahead to make an appeal for the church to remember him and his wife, Rebecca Akuffo-Addo in prayers and ask for strength, wisdom, courage, compassion and a good heart to be able to do the work Ghanaians have entrusted to them.

He concluded his little speech by making a commitment, pledging Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 200,000.00) to the work of the church which is to be delivered to the church this week. He then also, gave the church twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (20,000), right there and then, to support the service that day.

He made a promise thereafter, to work and help the younger people in Ghana who need assistance. He said, “Campbell has asked me to patronize the young children that he looks after. We will do that. But even more importantly, we will work so that we can reduce the number of young people in Ghana who need this kind of assistance. That has to be an important commitment of mine and I am in the position to make that commitment to you, we will do so.”
