Archbishop Palmer-Buckle Urges Ghanaians to Emulate Former President Rawlings

The Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Reverend Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle has admonished Ghanaians to uphold the values of the late former President John Jerry Rawlings. This he detailed in his sermon at the requiem mass held in memory of former President Rawlings on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra.

In his sermon, the Archbishop stated that probity, transparency and accountability were laudable values upheld by the former President J.J Rawlings throughout his service to Ghana. Hence it’s expedient for all Ghanaians to emulate same.

“Let us take hold today, in the presence of God, to work conscientiously to establish these virtues of probity, accountability and transparency in our own individual lives and in the social and political life and service of our country Ghana”, the Archbishop admonished.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Dramani Mahama, and other distinguished dignitaries from both the ruling and the opposition parties.

As part of the burial activities, the mortal remains of the former President Jerry John Rawlings was laid in state on 25th and 26th of January, 2021 at the Accra International Conference Centre for the citizenry to pay their last respects and then finally laid to rest on January 27, 2021.
