Wa: Three SMI Sisters say yes to God

Three Sisters of the Congregation of the “Catechist Sisters of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians Sisters Rita Danta, Rita Azure and Gloria Duongnaa made their final profession in the WA Diocese.

The event took place on 15th August, 2019, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Daffiama, in the Catholic Diocese of Wa.

The day was also the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Prior to the profession, the congregation of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate, SMI, in the Catholic diocese of Wa, had a week long retreat which was climaxed with the profession and Solemnity of the Assumption.

The Catholic bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Richard Kuuia Baawobr, M.Afr. was the retreat preacher for the week long retreat. He was also the main celebrant during the Eucharistic celebration.

The Superior General of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate, Sr. Christina Pogbeyir, encouraged the Sisters to allow God to feel their emptiness with His graces.

Symbolically, the Sisters were given an empty basket each, before they were presented with a Bible, Rosary and Candle.

Most Rev. Baawobr in his homily, congratulated the Sisters for taking the bold step in their religious life.
He also called on the religious to help mentor the youth who are discerning their vocation.

Some priests, religious brothers and sister, opinion leaders, lay faithful, within and outside the diocese of Wa, were also there to grace the occasion.
