Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD Eulogized on His 75th Birthday

A Eucharistic celebration has been held in honour of Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD in Accra to mark the 75th birthday celebration of the Irish-born Catholic Priest who has spent over 51 of these years in Ghana.

The Holy Mass at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Cantonments-Accra, where Fr. Campbell is the Parish Priest, saw the presence of the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, the former Chief Justice of Ghana, Mad. Georgina Wood, representatives of the President and Vice President of Ghana as well as some members of the Council of State.

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament spoke highly of Rev. Fr. Campbell. He said Fr. Campbell is a cheerful giver whose calling is to serve the needs of society and that Fr. Campbell’s journey of sharing his love to humanity is remarkable. Reiterating his commitment to promote the humanitarian works, Rt. Hon. Bagbin he donated Ghs 5, 000.00 to Fr. Campbell to assist with his projects.

The President of Ghana, through this representative, Hon. Ambrose Dery also donated Ghs 10, 000.00 to Fr. Campbell.

Fr. Campbell recounted how God has been good to him for all these years, especially his work in Ghana. He thanked all who have supported him over the years and prayed for God’s blessings to all.

In attendance at this thanksgiving Mass were the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp; Bishop of Keta-Akatsi Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD; Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol, SVD, Provincial Superior, Society of the Divine Word (SVD), Ghana–Liberia Province; Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Salifu, who was the homilist at the Mass, as well as about 20 other priests.
