MARY SEAT OF WISDOM CATHOLIC CHURCH CLIMAXES HOLY CHILDHOOD WEEK CELEBRATION

The Mary Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church, Odoben-Manhean, a Rectorate in the Kaneshie Deanery of the Archdiocese of Accra, climaxed its weeklong celebrations of the Holy Childhood Week on Sunday, February 12, 2023, with a Holy Mass.

 

The weeklong activities, which started with a launch on Sunday, 5th February 2023, were celebrated to enlighten children on this year’s theme “Burning hearts, feet’s on the move is a wake-up call for us children to do our bit to the win more souls for Christ our King”.

As part of the week’s celebrations, a special talk was organized on Monday, February 6th, 2023, for the children on the theme, “Children have a preferential place”. Mr. Bernard Ansong, who facilitated the talk, taught and encouraged the children on how children can get closer to God, listen to the word of God, be obedient, and respectful, be punctual at church, read the Catholic Bible daily, and pray to God.

 

On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Mrs. Catherine Vordzorgbe- Ayedzi, a catechist of the church, who facilitated the talk entreated the children on the theme “Children are the treasure of the society and the church” on how they need to show up their concerns to the society as well to the church.

 

During the Mass to climax the week, the children performed various roles, some of which included mass serving, readings, ushering, and praying of faithful, and handed over an appeal letter concerning their needs to the Priest-in-charge.

The Priest-in-charge of Mary Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. John Jomat, of the Carmelite of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I.), a missionary priest from India; emphasized on the importance of the children in the Catholic church.

He encouraged the children to be truthful and work hard in achieving their dreams. Fr. Jomat, entreated parents to also help their wards to realize the purpose to which they are called.

All children present for the mass wore dresses to show what career they will be in when they grow up.
