Catholic Church in Ghana joins the state in observing nationwide fasting and prayer

The church in Ghana under the patronage of the Bishops’ Conference will join the state in observing a nationwide fasting and prayer exercise aimed at seeking God’s intervention as the country and the wider community battle the deadly Coronavirus pandemic alongside the solemnity of the annunciation of the lord on Wednesday March 25.

A recent communique issued by the Bishops’ Conference directs the faithful in the country to join the state in observing this nationwide spiritual exercise to avert the unfortunate situation which has brought the world to its knees.

“In consonance with the directives issued on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 9:00pm by His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana calling for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on March 25, 2020 for God’s intervention to end the Coronavirus Pandemic in Ghana and in the whole world, we, your Bishops, further recommend that: All Catholics and People of goodwill observe the day as such”, the Bishops charged.

On their part, all and sundry must do their part in this time of uncertainty to adhere to all directives put in place by the State and the Church to curb the spread of the Covid-19 as quickly as possible.

Catholics in Ghana are also expected to join in the Holy Father’s call on the Christian community to pray “Our Father” at 12 noon to seek God’s intervention amidst the uncertainties sprouting up.
