Seven – member committee set to seek funds for national catholic television channel

A seven (7) member committee has been inaugurated at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, Accra by the Vicar General of Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Very Rev. Fr. John Louis and supported by the Director of the Department of Social Communications (DEPSOCOM), Accra, Rev. Fr. Blaise Bobi-Attachie.

The members of this all important committee, which was inaugurated on Mission Sunday, chaired by Mr. Osei Owusu Agyemang, include Mr. Joseph Kudjordji, Mrs. Cynthia Prah, Madam Therea Osei Tutu, Mr. Simon Ayem, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Cudjoe and Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD.

The committee’s main function is to devise innovative ways of reaching out to Catholics, the Christian community, corporate Ghana, parishes, societies and the general public, both home and abroad, to raise funds to support the agenda of the Catholic church in Ghana to set up a national television channel.

It will be recalled that the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference in June this year approved for the set of a National Catholic television channel. Since then, a number of meetings, discussions and conferences, through the leadership of the Catholic Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, have been held.

The set-up and inauguration of this committee is one big step to the realization of this dream for the Catholic faithful in Ghana.

Mr. Osei Owusu Agyemang, the Chairman of the committee, speaking on half of the committee at the ceremony said in the true spirit of Catholicism the committee will do their best to honour God.
