Six candidates have been ordained at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ho Bankoe, in the Catholic Diocese of Ho by the Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Emmanuel Finau, SVD.
Out of the six candidates, one joined from the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer CSsR, a Religious Congregation of the Catholic Church, dedicated to missionary work.
In his homily, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, said being a Deacon is a ministry of service like Nicodemus who was ready to avail himself to God. It is necessary to interact with Jesus and be part of his daily ministry. The Bishop reminded the Deacons to prepare adequately by constant reading of the word of God to be abreast with the new interpretation of the faith.
Bishop Fianu prompted the candidates of their primary duty saying, “You will proclaim the gospel, prepare the sacrifice and give the Body of Christ to the community of believers”.
The Bishop told the candidates to serve God wholeheartedly not thinking of getting a reward here earth but to show their service, by their way of life so that on the last day the Lord will welcome them saying “Well done good and faithful servant enter into the joy of the Lord”
The new Reverend Deacons promised Respect and Obedience to the Archbishop and his Successors and to live a life of Celibacy.
