FR. AKESSEH INSTALLED AS PARISH PRIEST OF CHRIST THE KING PARISH, ACCRA.

The Christ the King Catholic Church, Accra, has received its thirteenth Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Dr. Ebenezer Akesseh.
The installation mass was presided by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, at the Christ the King parish on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Fr. Dr. Ebenezer Akesseh becomes the thirteenth parish priest of Christ the King since its birth in 1951 and takes over from Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell (SVD).


Speaking at the installation mass, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie congratulated the newly installed priest, for his spiritual achievements. The Archbishop pledged to give his maximum support to Fr. Akesseh in his newly installed administration. He employed the installed Parish Priest to be spiritually stable as he becomes the presiding pastor of the biggest catholic parish in Ghana. Contemporary, the Archbishop also commissioned and blessed the newly installed audiovisual system at the Christ the King parish hall.

In the acceptance speech of the newly installed Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ebenezer Akesseh, expressed his profound gratitude to the Archbishop for the appointment to serve at Christ the King parish. “My dear Archbishop, thank you for the vote of confidence. I promise to be obedient to you and your successors, I would endeavor to represent you well here at Christ the King” he added. He again extended his appreciations to the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and other associations for their warm reception and support they have given him since he assumed office. According to Fr. Akesseh, “I am happy to be your pastor. I am here to serve you and feed you spiritually. I am here to bring you Jesus” he said. Fr Akesseh urged parishioners of Christ the King to pray for him as he takes the mantle upon himself to serve God and lead them as their spiritual father. He encouraged all parishioners of Christ the King to trust in God’s providential guidance and commit their time together into his hands. He said, “unless the Lord builds a house, those who build it labour in vain, but let the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain” (Psalms 127:1). He however thank all parishioners for their spontaneous response in donating a total amount of three hundred thousand, one hundred and twenty eight Ghana cedis for the completion of the audiovisual project.


Meanwhile it was disclosed at the installation ceremony that, the parochial Vicar of Christ the King, Rev. Fr. Raphael Hessah will be leaving Christ the King parish to take up a new appointment to serve as the Priest-in-Charge of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Jomah – Ablekuma. Fr. Ebenezer Akesseh commended Fr. Raphael for his fantastic work and support at the parish. “it saddens me that Fr. Raphael has to leave so soon” he retreated.
