Is Pope Francis’ call for a global compact on education feasible?

Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato si’ urges all to focus on education which opens our minds and heart to a wider and deeper understanding of reality which aims at developing a new universal solidarity and a new humanism.

‘Dear Brothers and Sisters, in my encyclical Laudato si’, I invite everyone to cooperate in caring for our common home. To understand the urgency of the challenge we face we have to focus on education which opens minds and hearts to a wider and deeper understanding of reality. We need a global compact on education amid at developing a new universal solidarity and a new humanism.’

The global event is scheduled to take place on 14 May 2020 in Rome. ‘So, I wish to endorse a global event to take place on 14 May 2020.’

The global education seeks to unite and form mature individuals who are able to live within and for society to create a change in the world. ‘we must unite our efforts, to create an educational alliance, to form mature individuals who are able to live within and for society’.

To instil such awareness, Pope Francis invites all peoples of the human family and among religion in their intellectual and charitable dimension to lead an alliance on earth that would bring peace and justice and help find ways of envisioning economic, politics, growth and progress. ‘We must root educational processes in the awareness that the whole world is deeply interconnected and that we need to find other ways of envisioning economics, politics, growth, and progress.’

Pope Francis then appeals to authoritative public figures in our world who are already in the education  sector to educate the future generation in caring for our common home to build a better future.’ I join you in appealing to authoritative public figures in our world who are already engaged in the delicate sector of educating future generations.’
