Uganda: Be Charitable and Avoid Drunkenness, Bishop of Lira Diocese tells Christians

Most Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lira has charged Christians to be charitable to the poor and vulnerable in the society to define their place and give them a sense of belonging.

In a recent interview, the prelate said “in most cases poor people are always left without support from the community” noting that it is proper for Christians to emulate Christ who came to comfort the poor and the vulnerable.

He further explained that due to the growing number of elderly, persons with disabilities, and the poor, the call falls on Christians to plan wisely and avoid extravagant spending especially during festive periods and keep other resources for the poor.
