They call me a perpetual beggar, Fr Campbell bemoans

Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish and founder of the Lepers’ Aid Committee NGO in a recent interview with the press has revealed that, many in the Ghanaian setting refer to him as the “Lepers’ Priest” and a perpetual beggar due to his consistent encounter with Lepers under his aid.

I’m referred to as the lepers’ Priest and I have been told I’m a perpetual beggar”, the Priest told ACI Africa on Monday March 27.

He explains that the tag of being a perpetual beggar comes since his outfit predominantly solicits funds to propel the activities of the Lepers’ Aid Committee.

“Lepers’ Aid Committee has for the past 27 years engaged in several activities aimed at soliciting funds and bring the public the need and aspiration of our neglected cured lepers remembering the biblical reference that says, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me in the Gospel of St Matthew”, he said.

The Priest has been working in Ghana as a Catholic Missionary Priest in The Society of the Divine Word since October 1971.
