The cross must take centre stage of your lives – Archbishop Kwofie to Christians

Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie (CSSp) in his homily on the feast of the exaltation of the holy cross at the archbishop Andoh Catechetical Centre, while expressing grief on the recent xenophobic attacks on Africans in South Africa urged Christians to allow the cross to take the centre of their lives.

“We depend on each other for survival and that we shall learn to see each other as one in the Lord and love ourselves as Christ loved us”, he admonished.

He further called on stakeholders to enforce laws that will ensure the security of foreigners living in another man’s country. The Archbishop urged all Christians to perform their human and Christian duty to ensure that such inhumane acts are alleviated. He condemns the act of killing and burning each other to ashes and calls for an end to such acts.

He also indicates that the cross “is the only channel through which we can attain salvation” and Christians must read the message the cross carries to open doors for them. He further charged Catholics to use the cross for purposeful activities other than using it for decoration. “Christianity without the cross is not possible, the cross stands at the very centre of our Christian life”, he added.

The feast of the holy cross marked on Saturday at the Archbishop Andoh catechetical centre in the Accra Archdiocese commenced on Friday with counseling, confession, and adoration as part of activities slated to commemorate the feast.
