St. Thomas Aquinas Church celebrates 70th anniversary

The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church at the University of Ghana, Legon has celebrated its 70 years of existence on January 31, 2021.

The Catholic Chaplaincy at the University has over the years grown through the contribution of Most Rev. Adolph Noser, SVD, the first bishop of the Accra Archdiocese, to Most Rev. Joseph Oliver Bowers, SVD, to Most Rev. Dominic Kodwo Andoh, to Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle and finally to Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp.

In his homily to mark the celebration, Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu, Bishop of Konongo-Mampong Diocese stressed on the need to be appreciative saying “let us say with the psalmist, What shall I render to the LORD for all his bounty to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people (Psalm 116:12-14). This is exactly what we are doing by celebrating this Mass.”
