The St Mark Parish Youth Council, Ashogman Estates, Accra, commemorated this year’s St Valentine’s Day with a themed dress code for mass on sunday dubbed the “Touch of Red Slay Day”
The day saw both young and old members of the church dress in red or a touch of the colour.
To whip more enthusiasm for the day and also to educate more on the day, there was a spoken word on the need for all of us to work together for the betterment of the church irrespective of our individual background and weaknesses. The spoken word was delivered beautifully in twi by the Vice President of the PYC, Divine Fiave. It was followed by a small question and answer session led by Andy Manomey where gift packages were given to parishioners who answered questions on the homily of the day as well as on St Valentine and also on lent.
The priest celebrating mass, Fr Cornelius, SJ thanked the youth for this initiative and encouraged them to keep up their good works.
The PYC Chairperson, Louisa Adiyiah-Kusi said the church should watch out for more programs and activities from the youth.
The day ended with a photoshoot by the youth dressed in red at the front of the church with a distribution of chocolates since the day was also National Chocolates Day.

What an innovative and ingenious way to mark St. Valentine’s Day at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashongman Estate! The event was very impressive. Kudos, the PYC of St. Mark, for such an eye-opener. Keep the good deeds up. May God bless and protect us all.
