The St. Mark Parish Youth Council has organized the first edition of its “Youth Skills Development Training” series dubbed “DIY Series”. It took place on Sunday 15th August 2021 after the first mass at the forecourt of the Church, were the youth learnt how to make Tie and Die.
The aim of this initiative is to help the youth develop basic skills in various fields to promote entrepreneurship, and as the name suggest to also help them do some basic things by themselves. It did not only attract the youth of the Church as intended, but also the elderly who were all very enthusiastic to learn something new.
The program began with participants being taken through a list of the various materials needed to make the Tie and Die. Next, the facilitators demonstrated various designs that could be made. Some designs learnt were the left spiral, centre spiral, upper spiral, eye, shibori, strips and crumple.
