St. Francis of Assisi – Awoshie, Accra launch 30th Anniversary Celebration

The St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church- Awoshie, Anyaa of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, in a grand traditional style launched its 30th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, 22nd August, 2021.

The Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), Mr. John Appah made this declaration when he unveiled the 30th Anniversary Banner and highlighted the program of activities for the anniversary celebration with the support of past PPC Chairmen.

Under the theme:”Our Strength and Shield for 30 years. Lord, we give you thanks. (Cf. Psalm 28:7)” the celebration will revive participation in parish activities and acknowledge the 30 years journey of the church and its 5 years as a parish.

The summary of the planned events include a friendly Volleyball Competition, Inter-societal quiz contests, a Health Walk, a Medical Outreach, A Charity Work, A Music Festival and the climax in October, 2021.

Mr. Appah also reiterated in his address, the essence of participating in the outlined activities and the need to acquire a new vehicle for the pastoral activities of the church.

The anniversary was launched amidst an exhibition fair, a photo exhibition of past events and traditional performances by the various ethnic groups in the church.

The birth of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church was conceived in 1991 through a discussion among three Catholic faithful: Mr. John Baidoo (a.k.a Ghanaman), Mr. Johnson Kwarfo and Mr. Paul Kingsley Kosivi at Ada Maame in Awoshie.
