Saint of the day: St. Bede the Venerable, Priest and Doctor of the Church

St. Bede was born at Jarrow, England in 673. He joined the Benedictines and was ordained a priest in the 702. He was known far and wide as the most learned man of his day. His written works, most of which are extant, comprise all aspects of knowledge, that is history, cosmography, orthography, astronomy, music, grammar, philosophy, poetry, and many more.

His best known and most authoritative of his historical works is the ECCLESIASTICAL HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH PEOPLE.

He died in 731. He is a Doctor of the Church.

When you are moved by the Spirit to write something down about our faith, do not hesitate, for it might become the simple meaning to someone’s explanation. Amen

St. Bede, pray for us.
