Over 700 children attend Osu deanery children’s day celebrations

More than 700 children from 10 parishes in the Osu deanery of the Metropolitan archdiocese of Accra attended this years children’s day celebration held at the Our Lady of Fatima Grotto at the Christ the King Parish, Cantonment, Accra to earmark Holy Childhood in the deanery.

As part of activities to mark the day, the children were taken through some teachings on the theme “Baptized and sent into the world as witnesses of God’s love”

They were also led by their animators to recite the Holy rosary and ended the first part with Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Frs. Emmanuel-Mary Ofori Srem and Emmanuel Appah.

The children from, Christ the King, Cantonment, St Peter’s Osu, St. Catherine, St. James, Osu, Our Lady of Visitation, Mary Mother of Good Counsel, Airport West, St. Maurice, La, SS. Anne and Joachim, Teshie, St. Micheal, 37,  Divine Mercy, Okponglo, St. Ignatius of Loyola and children from the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka participated in the day’s celebration.

The part two of the program featured the children in fun games, musical chairs competition, bouncing castle, photoshoot session among other activities.

In all, 749 children and 51 animators were at the day’s celebration.

Interacting with some of the children after the program, they expressed their excitement about the day.

Oswald from the St James Parish said ” I think the program for today was really good, because we had much fun here and played games. I ask all parishioners to please make sure their children come next time because it was really good”

The day’s celebration also coincided with the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese Saint and patron saint of victims of trafficking.
