National Youth Chaplain and GHANCYC General Secretary visits Koforidua Diocese

The National Youth Chaplain (Rev. Fr. Jaemes Bour-Mensah) and the GHANCYC General Secretary (Dennis Appiah-Sasraku) ended their visit to the Koforidua Diocese on Sunday, 27th June 2021.

The visit took them on a familiarisation tour of the CYO Center in Adoagyir, Nsawam on Friday 25th June 2021. Issues relating to the CYO society was discussed to fashion out ways to revamp the society and its center.

The team also paid a courtesy call on the Bishop of Koforidua Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum. He welcomed us with love and appreciated the challenges of the youth of today. He encouraged us not to give up and to work hard to inculcate Good virtues in Catholic Youths across the country. He bemoaned the get rich quick attitudes of the youth of today but was hopeful for a change.

On Saturday, 26th June 2021, we met the Diocesan Youth Council of Koforidua Diocese. Issues of NICYFOP, age policy, self reliance and general issue of interest to Diocese and youth Apostolate were discussed. The Chaplain offered some advice and recommendations to the council.
The visit was climaxed by Mass on Sunday at St. Bakhita Parish, Old Estate with some youth executives from parishes in the Koforidua Deanary in attendance.

There were also some visits to the Cathedral and Asokore. We are grateful to the Youth Chaplain of Koforidua Diocese, Rev. Fr. Peter Gregory Oduro Owusu and his Diocesan Youth Executive for the warm reception and very good organisation.
