MESSAGE BY CURED LEPERS TO VERY REV. FR. DR. ANDREW CAMPBELL ON HIS GOLDEN JUBILEE AS A PRIEST

Cured Lepers of the Weija leprosarium, on behalf of all Cured Lepers in Ghana have expressed their profound gratitude to their mentor and father at a recently held Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration to mark the Golden Jubilee of their aid and benefactor, Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD.

Reading the message of appreciation, Mr. John Ampao, an artist and a Cured Leper at the Weija Leprosarium said it was their duty to thank him because he deserved it. The message of gratitude described Fr. Campbell as a very important personality to humanity whose selfless dedication towards the destitute has earned him a chieftaincy title in Ghana popularly known as Nii Lantey of Akoto Lantey

While reading to all present Mr. John Ampao said Fr. Andrew Campbell has distinguished himself solely and relied on God’s word and stood firmly to oversee the affairs of all the Leprosaria in Ghana.

The message also emphasized on Fr. Andrew Campbell’s readiness to ease their pain, as it read: “To deliberate on facts we the Cured Lepers and the entire Cured Lepers in Ghana are the greatest beneficiaries of what God is using in him to do in his ministry. He took us and embraced us dearly to his heart each day and night and even if there is any eventuality and he is called upon he immediately responds”.

The hand of help Rev. Fr. Campbell gives in support of their needs include taking care of all their electricity bills, water bills, food, drinks and toiletries every month. During the passing of a member, Fr. Campbell will be available to ensure that all goes well.

The message ended appreciating the hard work and support of members of Lepers Aid Committee over the years.

Since 1977 Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD has been helping to solicit funds to improve the lives of Cured lepers in Weija, Ho, Ankaful, Kokofu, Nkanchina and other leprosy settlements in the Upper West region of Ghana.
