Mary Mother of God Catholic Church,Tema celebrates 10 years of existence

Mary Mother of God Catholic Church will be exactly 10 years on the 7th March 2020. The parish is a growing community located within the Devtraco Courts, Community 25, New Dawhenya.  A series of activities have been earmarked for a yearlong celebration of the anniversary, which is under the theme: “A decade of Grace, Growing Stronger and Reaching Higher” Is. 40: 31.

There will be an anniversary mass on the 7th March at the church premises at 8.00am. This will be followed the next day 8th March with a Thanksgiving Mass at 7.30am and Cocktail at the parish.

Other activities marked include among others a charity outreach, Youth and Welfare months, Marian Walk, Anniversary Lecture, choral concert, church cloth design competition and other fundraising activities in aid of completion of the church building.

All Catholics, youth and well-wishers are invited to share in the celebration throughout the year as we mark the significance of the Catholic faith and community building in shaping society both at family and national levels through sound spiritual doctrine and pastoral care of the lay faithful.

Speaking about the significance of this milestone Rev. Fr. Dominic Amegashitsi, the Parish Priest of the Church said: “As we look forward to the yearlong celebrations, let us open our hearts and minds to grow in faith, and charity learning from the successes of the past, building on the future for the growth of the Catholic Church as it expands within Dawhenya and its environs”.

“We look forward to the celebrations of the past decade and next decade, especially as we focus this year on growing in the Word of God through Bible study and witnessing to the Gospel values by our lives”.

Chairman of the Church Pastoral Council, Mr. Nathan Tedam is positive that this new chapter in the life of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church will mark the beginning of a renewed faith and zeal for the Catholic apostolate in the fabric of everyday life: “Come join us celebrate this achievement together, as we build our church community in a spirit of love and reconciliation”.
