Maiden Edition of Faith Discussion Launched

The Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council held its maiden edition of Faith Discussion at St. James Catholic Church, Osu, on the 30th of July, 2021.

The event is intended to help the youth especially Catholics to get a deeper understanding of the teachings of the church and to explore their faith.

The discussions for the day were based on premarital sex giving its prominence in society these days.

The speakers for the programme were Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Salifu (Priest in Charge of St. Joesph the Worker Catholic Church, Weija), Rev. Fr. George Appah (Priest in Charge of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, New Achimota), and Dr. Alex Ackon, (Gynecologist).

In attendance were youths from various parishes within the archdiocese. The programme was streamed live on social media to cater for those who cannot physically partake and the world at large.

During the discussions, a question was thrown to the panel on the need to engage in sex before marriage to enable the would-be marriage couple to identify their sexual compatibility to avert any future consequences

Dr Alex Ackon in response to the question stated that there’s no such thing as compatibility in sex.

He further added that there’s always a solution for married couples to resolve their sexual inabilities.

“There is nothing like sexual compatibility. If there is anything medically wrong, one needs to seek medical advise”

This new initiative by the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council will be held on the last Friday of every month with variable topics.

Meanwhile, the next session is to be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Taifa on 20th August 2021.
