“Let us all support Fr. Campbell to eradicate leprosy” – Dr. Quist

A group called AID GHANA LEPERS – US has been formed in the United States of America with its aim to support the work of the Lepers Aid Committee, Ghana, especially the new Research Center located at the Weija Leprosarium, Weija- Accra.

Dr. Faustina Quist, a Ghanaian retired educationist, who is one of the founders of this group said the aim of this group is to raise at least $10,000.00 dollars towards the upkeep of the Research Center, particularly to stock in the necessary equipment, medicines, and other logistics to help eradicate leprosy totally.

Dr. Quist made this known in an interview with Radio Angelus news at a ceremony to mark World Leprosy Day at the Weija Leprosarium.

The Doctor in Educational Leadership further added that her interest in the leprosarium and issues concerning leprosy grew strongly after her visit last year to the Weija Leprosarium, which made her adopt little Priscilla, a three (3) year old girl who has leprosy and had just gone through a surgery, which her group was able to support.

Dr. Quist said that “God has blessed us, every one of us. There are people in the hospitals who are on oxygen and must pay for it. God has given us free air and we just breathe it for free. Our fellow citizens have leprosy, and these are cured lepers. We should stand with Rev. Fr. Campbell and his team to support eradicating leprosy”.

Dr. Quist wants to specially thank Mr. Selorm Quist one of the US group members who donated a separate money towards getting prosthetics for Priscilla.
