How St. Peters Parishioners welcomed their new pastor

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp on September 4, 2019  made his first transfers and appointments as the Archbishop of Accra. News of this nature is usually received by both priests and the lay faithful with mix feelings and reactions.

The Catholic faithful at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Osu, Accra, who now have Rev. Fr. Wisdom Larweh as their pastor have a wonderful reaction and approach at welcoming their new Pastor who is expected to report by October 1, 2019 as communicated by the Archbishop.

Rev. Fr. Philip Bempong, the outgoing Priest In-Charge, will be leaving for the United States of America for pastoral work and will be replaced by Rev. Fr. Wisdom Larweh as the Parish Priest, who will have additional responsibility for Estates/ Lands for the Archdiocese.

The parishioners, championed by the youth of the parish, have mounted a beautiful board with a portrait drawing of Fr. Wisdom, incoming Parish Priest, where individuals and groups in the parish are invited to write welcoming words to their new Pastor. This striking work of art is the first thing you will encounter when you enter the main gates of the church.

Rev. Fr. Wisdom could not hide his excitement when the picture surfaced on social media. “How humbling it is to know that the delights of such love await me in Osu. Love you more, Fr. Philippo Inzagi (Fr. Philip Bempong) and parishioners of St. Peter’s, Osu,” he responded.

St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Osu is one of the oldest parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra with a vibrant congregation, especially the youth.
