Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC) Ends AGCM

 GHANCYC has held its 44th AGCM

The Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC) has held their 44th Annual General Council Meeting (AGCM) at St. John Bosco College of Education, Navrongo. The meeting which was attended by over youth leaders from all the 20 Catholic Dioceses and National Movements in Ghana was themed, “Our Call to Holiness in the light of Gaudete et Exsultate”.

In attendance also was the Episcopal Co-Chair for Laity, Most Rev. Emmanuel Fianu (Bishop of Ho) who encouraged youth leaders to rigorously promote leadership formation for upcoming youths since Vatican has fixed leadership for youth groups between ages 18 to 29 years. He also admonished the strengthening of the provinces through the organizations of provincial programmes.

In a keynote address read on behalf of Most Rev Alfred Agyenta, he advised the youth to live their Christian faith to full in the face of struggles and difficulties posed by the evil one through worldly desires, knowing very well that they have the potential and ability to do so. He urged the youth to rise up to the challenge of bringing their faith into the public square especially in the civic and political endeavors.

The meeting came to an end on September 9 with resolutions such as streamlining, strengthening and empower provincial level meetings and programmes, ensuring that they are well synchronized with all (Arch) Diocesan/Vicariate/Prefecture and National Youth Council structures.

The annual meeting is organized to take stock of youth activities within the Catholic Church in the past year and also plan for the ensuing year.
