Covid-19: Priest To Organize 50km Walk In Aid Of the Poor

Rev. Fr. Bright Kennedy, Agyepong, Parish Priest of St. Peters Catholic Church Somanya in the Koforidua Diocese is set to embark on a 50 Kilometer walk to raise money to support Health workers and the poor, in the Diocese on Friday May 8, 2020.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Angelus reporter Richard Mensah Adonu, He added that the purpose of the walk is to support the efforts being carried out by societies and groups to raise awareness on the threats of Covid-19 and as well secure funds to support the vulnerable and front line health workers.

Fr. Bright explained that “times are hard and ordinary people or folks are really in very difficult situations” necessitating his urge to raise funds to support the “vulnerable” amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

For his part, he has observed that the less privileged who come to the markets cannot even afford to buy nose masks to push through the period.

He explained that, the exercise is intended to raise funds through his friends and loved ones and also called well-meaning individuals and institutions to support his initiative.

The seven-hour walk will start from the premises of St. Peters Catholic Church, Somanya at about 5am and end at the St. Georges Catholic Cathedral, Koforidua on Friday.
