The Catholic Church in Ghana has declared the day for grandparents and the elderly to be celebrated on July 25, 2021.
This follows the message by the Holy Father Pope Francis who called on all lay faithful to celebrate and honor the aged in the society.
The program was launched by the Bishop of Keta-Akatsi at the conference hall of the National Catholic Secretariat on July 19, 2021, in Accra.
The theme of the celebration was picked from the Gospel of Mathew 28:20 “I am with you always “
The new world day program is to be celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in July to appreciate the elderly who are identified as one of the most vulnerable people in society and to give them a sense of belonging.
