Bishops’ Conference donates GHS 70,000 to Government’s COVID-19 trust fund

 

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), on Thursday, April 30, 2020, made a donation of Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 70.000.00) to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund at its Secretariat in Accra.

Most Rev Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast and Vice President of the Bishops’ Conference in the company of Very Rev Fr Lazarus Anondee, Secretary-General of the Conference presented the amount to aid the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana on behalf of the Bishops’ Conference.

Archbishop Palmer-Buckle explained that the gesture is the Catholic Church in Ghana’s effort in supporting the government to tackle the pandemic so that collectively, Ghana can fight the deadly Coronavirus disease.

The Prelate also emphasized the Bishops’ Conference has outlined 9-month National Response Plan for Covid-19 aimed at providing PPEs for all Catholic frontline health workers as well as provide relief items to the elderly and the vulnerable.

Mr. Jude Kofi Bucknor, a Member of the Board of Trustees supported by the Administrator of the Fund, Dr. Collins Asare lauded the efforts of the Catholic Church in Ghana and affirmed that the utilization of the donation to its fullness.
