Archbishop Bonaventure Kwofie hosts 100 children

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, has hosted about one hundred (100) children in his Osu residence. On Wednesday 30 December, 2020, a section of children representing the various deaneries in the Archdiocese of Accra visited the Archbishop to spend quality time with him.

The event which was organized by Radio Angelus’s Children’s Time in His Presence, assembled children from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Glefe–Dansoman, Corpus Christi Parish, Sakumono and Martyrs of Uganda Parish, Mamprobi. Other children came from the Francophone community, Ashaley Botwe and Margaret-Mary Parish, Dansoman.

The visit offered the children the opportunity to sing Christmas Songs, perform various sketches and recitals. A book filled with hearty messages from the children was also presented to the Archbishop. The children then presented to their shepherd a special picture frame that bore the images of children from the six Deaneries in addition to a creative art work. The children said a Special prayer for the healing of the Archbishop.

The archbishop who was full of gratitude adopted 30 December as annual gathering for children in the archdiocese and the Archbishop. Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, thanked the children for their performances, messages and presents. He was also grateful to all the animators for preparing the children for the event. He also praised the organisers, Radio Angelus, for giving the children the platform to interact with him during the festive season.

The Financial Administrator of the Archdiocese of Accra, Very Rev. Fr. John Neumann Tettehfio, Youth and Vocations Director, Rev. Januarious Akpabli and Archbishop’s Secretary, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Appah, were in attendance to welcome the children. Also in attendance were the Archdiocesan Youth Chairman, Anthony Ngissah Essuah, the Osu Deanery Youth Council Chairman, Cyril Nai.
