Apologise for your disparaging tribal comments: Catholic Bishops to Badu Kobi

The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference is calling for unqualified apology from the leader of the Glorious Wave Church, Prophet Badu Kobi for describing women of certain tribes with some unpleasant words.

The Bishops say they condemn in no uncertain terms the conduct of the man of God. They further intimated that it is expedient pastors  use the pulpit to preach unity in an environment they describe as politically polarised  rather than create more division.

The Bishops’ message was carried in a statement released by the National Catholic Secretariat in Accra on Friday, August 9.

GHANA CATHOLIC BISHOPS’ CONFERENCE CONDEMNS DISPARAGING COMMENTS OF PROPHET EMMANUEL BADU KOBI ABOUT ASHANTI. FANTE AND EWE WOMEN

Grace and peace be with you!

At our just ended Plenary Meeting of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference that took place in Accra on 6 August, 2019, we found time to deliberate on statements made recently by the Founder and Leader of the Glorious Wave Church International. Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi.

In these statements, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi said disparaging things about Asante, Fame and Ewe women. We would not like to repeat here the adjectives that he used for them. Nevertheless, we condemn him in no uncertain terms for saying what he said. It is our view that a pastor of a church, or anybody for that matter, should not talk the way he didt In doing so, he has shown great disrespect to women. Such statements bring division not only in the church but also in the nation.

Since we already live in a nation where there is so much polarization on political lines, we believe that as pastors we should promote unity and peace in our churches so that they could be places where people from different political and ethnic groups would feel welcome, As St. Paul says in Galatians 3:27 28, “As many of you as were baptLEd into Chris! have clothed yourxelves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek. (here is no longer slave orfree, there it“ no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus

We strongly urge Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to render an unqualified apology to all women, especially the Asante, Fante and Ewe women whom he mentioned in his unprovoked attack.

With sentiments of high esteem and prayerful best wishes
