Akufo-Addo approves charter for Methodist, Presbyterian and Catholic University Colleges

Three University Colleges in Ghana are set to be awarded a presidential charter.

A statement issued by the Office of the President dated March 3, 2022, said Methodist University College, Presbyterian University College, and Catholic University College had been given the President’s approval to award degrees.

The three universities were formerly affiliated with other institutions of higher learning.

The charter however makes the universities autonomous and grants them the power to award their own degrees and diplomas.

In 2020, the President similarly presented presidential charters to the Pentecost University College and All Nations University College, Koforidua.
