6 SMMC sisters profess final vows; 3 others celebrate ruby jubilee

It was a momentous occasion for the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church (SMMC) congregation in the Ho Diocese as six of their members professed their Perpetual Vows and three others celebrated their jubilee on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Srs. Justine Mawuse Agbeko, Regina Esinu Gbemu, Agnes Mercy Nyatsoe, Gifty Anastasia Blewu, Francisca Kumevor and Stephanie Quarshie took their final vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience before the Mother Superior Rev. Sister Georgina Irene Akoto and Most Rev. Anthony Adanuty, Bishop Emeritus of Keta-Akatsi diocese.

The twin celebration held in the Mater Ecclesiae School chapel at Sokode Gbogame, also saw the re-consecration of Sr. Sophia Mawutor Sogbey, who was celebrating her 40th anniversary, as well as Srs. Jane Frances Quacoe and Rejoice Eugenia Sedegah, both marking their 25th anniversary in the religious vocation.

Present at the ceremony was Most Rev. Alphonse Asiedu, SVD Apostolic Vicar of Donkorkrom, Very Rev. Fr. William Horlu, Vicar General of Ho Diocese and a host of priests and religious as well as catholic faithful from within and outside the diocese.

Most Rev. Adanuty who presided over the Eucharistic celebration, in his homily urged the Sisters in to stay true to the call of their vocation and be of service to all.

He entreated them to always seek the face and direction of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom they remain perpetually betrothed.

”The vocation to which you’ve been called, is for you to do away with the earthly pleasures for heavenly treasures,” he stated.

The Mother Superior, Rev. Sr. Irene Akoto on her part commended the Sisters for choosing to do God’s will through the SMMC congregation.

She also congratulated the jubilarians for their service to God and humanity.

The celebrants later received felicitations from their family and friends, the clergy and other religious present.
