5th anniversary of Living With Christ Missalette marked in Accra

Dozens of Christ’s faithful earlier this afternoon gathered at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra to mark the 5th anniversary of the Ghana edition of the Living With Christ Missalette.

The event was graced by priests and religious as well as lay faithfuls in the Archdiocese of Accra and was attended by the Osu Deanery Youth Choir.

The Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie in a message read on his behalf by the Dean of the Tema-Battor Deanery, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Gorsu said the word of God is an indispensable part of of the life of every Christian and a trust worthy companion of faith.

“The word of God is an indispensable part of the life of every Christian and a trustworthy companion on our journey of faith. This calls for a better understanding of the scriptural passages the liturgy proposes to us daily. This is what the Living With Christ Missalette has brought to the doorstep of the Catholic faithful in the past five years in the Archdiocese of Accra and beyond,” Archbishop Kwofie said.

The prelate further expressed his appreciation to his predecessor for the initiative. He noted that it the missalette is essential in sustaining the faith of God’s people.

“I am indeed grateful to my predecessor Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, who introduced this user-friendly Missalette in the Archdiocese of Accra so that Christ’s Faithful would have easy access to the liturgical readings and so ensure better participation at liturgical celebrations,”

“It is a great initiative at a time when our Catholic faithful are confronted with the challenges of using Scriptures as light for our path (cf. Ps 119:105) and sustaining our faith firmly in the revealed and written word of God,” he averred.

He opined that “The production of the Missalette has become a practical tool for Pastors of souls, lay preachers, catechists and chaplains to carry out their teaching ministry more effectively. It has become a useful guide for prayer and study for those who desire to enrich their understanding of the liturgy and teachings of the Church.”

Living With Christ Ghana Missal is a monthly Missal designed to help the faithful come to an appreciation of the Living Word of God and the Eucharist.

It is published by the Bayard Press, an internationally acclaimed publishing company with its headquarters in Paris, France.

It is under the auspices of the Assumptionists Religious Congregation. The first edition to be published in Ghana was in December, 2014.

Since its inception, It has been bringing the faithful to an active, full and conscious participation in the Eucharistic celebration while at the same time bring them to appreciate or get acquainted with local spiritual customs and ecclesiastical events.

Among the novelties of this publication are: the Mass,and it’s structure with explanation, daily readings and reflections, teachings on very pertinent doctrinal and faith issues.
