The 2019 edition of the Lepers Aid Christmas concert was held on Sunday, December 15 at Christ the King parish, Cantonments to raise funds to start a research center at the Weija Leprosarium.

This year’s concert did not only see the Winbeba youth choir perform but Nana Opiah Mensah, a cured leper was given the opportunity to play a Christmas Carol for the audience.

The event also marked the launch of Fr. Campbell & 50: a one-year celebration of Fr. Campbell and his work as he clocks 50 years as a priest next year, December 20, 2020.

Sophia Akuffo, Chief Justice who delivered the keynote address praised Fr. Campbell for his exemplary work in Ghana for almost 50 years and encouraged the audience to do same to complement his work.
“I wish to congratulate Fr. Campbell and the committee members and every person here and throughout the country who have made contributions towards the work of the committee,” she said.
“I think everybody in Ghana ought to be a member and a sponsor because it’s important that we all are human beings and particularly as Christians should lend ourselves: our time, our resources and our influence on a course such as this,” she added.

As part of its annual activities, the Lepers Aid Committee has annually put together a Christmas carol service to share in the joy of the season and also raise funds to aid its activities.
